Representative Mayfield hosts Town Hall Meeting to discuss Consumer Fraud

(North Chicago, IL) - State Rep. Rita Mayfield (D-Waukegan) in association with the Illinois Attorney General's Office invites the public to participate in a town hall meeting focusing on consumer fraud. The meeting will take place on Saturday, July 28th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the North Chicago Public Library located at 2100 Argonne Dr.

"I am hosting this meeting because consumer fraud is becoming an increasing issue in Lake County. Residents are being taken advantage of via telephone solicitation, emails, social media, and door to door solicitation. Residents need to understand they have rights and there are resources available to them if they suspect fraudulent activity or have become a victim of fraud."

The topic of discussion will focus on consumer fraud, signs of a potential fraudulent situation, and how to avoid becoming a victim of consumer fraud. According to the Federal Trade Commission, approximately 30.2 million Americans have fell victim to some form of consumer fraud ranging from unauthorized billing to credit repair scams.
