Rita Mayfield & the Citizens Utility Board-Town Hall Meeting

State Rep. Rita Mayfield (D-Waukegan) invites the public to participate in a town hall meeting focusing on reducing energy consumption and saving money on winter energy cost. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 2nd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Waukegan Public Library located at 128 N. County Street.

"My goal is to encourage people to cut their energy consumption this winter, which should result in lower heating and electricity bills," Mayfield said. "Families can often times save hundreds of dollars per year by changing a few of their daily habits or by making a few simple changes around the house."

Citizens Utility Board (CUB) is a non-profit consumer group created by the state legislature to fight for the rights of utility customers in Illinois. The free town hall meeting will offer local residents an opportunity to learn about different household steps they can take to significantly reduce their energy use. The meeting will also suggest ways residents can prepare their homes and families for the upcoming harsh forecasted winter.

"The truth is there are a lot of ways to trim your monthly utility costs, and CUB knows all about them, CUB Executive Director David Kolata said. "Rep. Mayfield's constituents have a great opportunity to get solid guidance on how to save hundreds of dollars a year, and that's good news in tough economic times."
