With State Representatives
Rita Mayfield & Elaine Nekritz

And Redistricting Committee Member
Lou Lang

Every 10 years, Illinois is required to redraw its congressional and legislative boundaries to reflect population changes. This year’s redistricting process strives to be more open than ever before. To foster an inclusive process, the Illinois House of Representatives has created a Special Committee on Redistricting that will conduct a series of at least 15 hearings around the state to hear directly from the public.

On Tuesday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m., the Illinois House of Representatives will be hosting a hearing of this committee at Waukegan City Hall located at 100 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. These hearings are being held in compliance with the Redistricting Transparency and Public Participation Act and are a furtherance of Illinois House Democrats’ commitment to redistricting requirements imposed by the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions and the federal and state Voting Rights Acts.

Please join us for a public discussion with civic groups, community organizations, local elected officials, minority groups, organizations serving senior citizens and the disabled, and many others to provide input on the decennial legislative and congressional mapmaking process.

For more information, to RSVP or if you would like to provide testimony, please call 217-782-4040.

Thank you,

Rita Mayfield
